When Jesus was twelve years old, we read an interesting account in Luke chapter 2 of a visit he made with his parents to Jerusalem for the Passover. As you may remember, his parents left him behind after the feast, quite by accident, and found him three days later in the temple courts, discussing religion with the rabbis and priests of the day.
Quite distraught, his mother asked him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” What was Jesus’ reply? He said to them, “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
When Jesus was a preteen, his heart’s desire was to be in His Father’s house. He was so in tune with God that he wanted most of all to worship God and fellowship with God’s people.
What about your child? As he or she matures, is there a growing desire to be in God’s house? To spend time with other Christians? My prayer is that the answer is yes. At First Baptist Church the Woodlands, we are people committed to worshiping God, growing in Christlike maturity and service and sharing Jesus with the world.
I hope that you will bring your family and check out all that we have to offer. One day, maybe your child will say of First Baptist Church The Woodlands, “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
Blessings to you,
